Author’s Spotlight with Katrina Anderson

On Thursday Feb. 28,2019 I had the chance to speak with the Lovely Katrina Anderson in my Favorite place to be Kween’s Book Klique. This wasn’t my normal spotlight this week because I had a few things going on. Even with all of that I was still able to get to know Katrina! I loved how even though we didn’t get out 1 on 1 time she was still very professional and got the interview done.

Shan: What name do you write under?
Katrina: Author Kay Shanee

Shan: How did you get started writing?
Katrina: Honestly, I used to write when I was much younger. I started writing a book in middle school but then I got involved in sports and stopped writing. I started writing again about two years ago. I called myself writing the me and my husband’s love story, but that shit was so boring, so I made up a bunch of stuff.

Shan: How long does it take you to write a book?
Katrina: Generally, about a month. Right now, I coach track, so my world is spinning.

Shan: Where do you get your Ideas?
Katrina: My ideas come kind of randomly. I have an hour drive to and from work and do a lot of thinking. They also come to me in my dreams.

Shan: Tell us about your writing style
Katrina: I think I fit into the Black Contemporary Romance with Erotica. LOL

Shan: What is the name of the first book you ever published? When?
Katrina: LOVE HATE and EVERYTHING in BETWEEN published in 6/2018

Shan: How many books have you published?
Katrina: 6

Shan: What do you do when you’re not writing?
Katrina: I am a HS Business Education teacher and girls track coach. In the spring track takes up a lot of my time. My 15-year-old son is professional DJ and since he can’t drive, I spend a lot of time taking him to events that he book. I’ve been married for 21 years and I also have a 19-year-old daughter who is in college and plays volleyball.

Shan: What do you Find the hardest about writing?
Katrina: Mentally preparing to share it with those willing to read.

Shan: What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned in your writing career?
Katrina: How hard it is?

Shan: Who is your favorite author? Why?
Katrina: I have several that I enjoy but definitely Love Belvin and Beverly Love.

Shan: what is something you want your readers to know about you?
Katrina: I absolutely love BLACK Love. My books will probably always reflect on Black men and women positively.

Shan: Do you have any goals for this year pertaining to your writing?
Katrina: I just want to improve as a writer and maybe help a few people that want to learn how to self-publish.

Shan: If you had the opportunity to recommend a book to a new reader which one would you recommend? Why?
Katrina: Anything by Love Belvin. Her books are addictive.

Shan: Any new releases coming up?
Katrina: I’m working on book #7 now and its going to be a short story collection of erotic stories.
